A relaxing country pad with striking views of Lake Windermere - includes breakfast, three-course dinner and an optional private hot tub

The Lake District never loses its capacity to enchant, so you can expect lashings of fabulousness and finery at this very pretty pile overlooking Lake Windermere - England’s largest watery wonder that stretches for over 10 miles between Ambleside and Newby Bridge. Set in beautiful grounds, you’ll be just a two-minute walk from Bowness-on-Windermere - the former fishing village that’s now the best (and busiest) place to catch a boat for a trip around the lake.

This smart four-star gem comes with a large selection of guest rooms and suites - all of which offer boutique-chic décor that’s tasteful without being over-the-top. Expect snuggle-worthy king-size beds (or twins) dressed with luxe linens, flatscreen TVs with digital channels, and private bathrooms with bathtubs, showers. Some rooms also have a hot tub on their private balcony.

For foodies, the restaurant adds a dash of sparkle with cooked-to-perfection full Cumbrian breakfasts and a superb dinner menu that pays homage to (mostly) British cuisine made with locally-sourced and seasonal ingredients. There’s also a traditional pub for real ales, a relaxed lounge for afternoon cream teas, a new spa for top-to-toe pampering, and a private 18-seater cinema that screens two films every evening.
