Day 1: UK - Colombo

Leave your UK departure airport, heading for Sri Lanka and spending the night on board.

Day 2: Colombo - Negombo

Arrive in Sri Lanka and transfer to your hotel in Negombo, on the west coast. Spend your first night at leisure.

Day 3: Negombo - Sigiriya

After breakfast, drive to the Sigiriya region, home to the iconic Lion Rock. Visit a local village en route, enjoying an authentic lunch followed by a tuk-tuk tour and a boat ride on the lake. (Meals: breakfast, lunch)

Day 4: Sigiriya - Minneriya - Sigiriya

Explore Sigiriya today, one of the most recognisable sights in Sri Lanka. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a rock fortress with palace ruins sitting 500 feet above the ground. Explore, then continue for a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, famous for its elephants. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 5: Sigiriya - Kandy

Transfer to Kandy, stopping to visit the ancient Golden Temple of Dambulla en route, as well as a spice garden and batik factory. Surrounded by hills, enchanting Kandy is one of Sri Lanka’s cultural hotspots, and while you’re here, you’ll enjoy a visit to the incredible Sacred Tooth Relic and a traditional evening show. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 6: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya - Kandy

Make your way to the famous Hill Country town of Nuwara Eliya via one of the most picturesque routes in the country. Soak up panoramic views along the way, then call in at a tea plantation and factory. This region is famous all over the world for its tea production, and you’ll get to see the whole process of how Ceylon Tea is made before sampling a cup or two. You’ll have the option to travel to Nuwara Eliya by scenic train, for an additional charge.

Day7: Kandy - Hikkaduwa

Transfer to Hikkaduwa, a famous beach resort with stunning sands and an abundance of watersports. Spend your day at leisure here. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 8: Hikkaduwa

Today, you can spend the day unwinding by the ocean. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 9: Hikkaduwa - Colombo OR Hikkaduwa - Negombo

Depending on which itinerary you opt for, today you’ll either be heading to Negombo for a five-night stay or heading home. If you opt for the seven-night itinerary you’ll transfer back to Colombo International Airport for your flight back to the UK. If you opt for the 12-night itinerary, head back to the fisherman’s beach paradise of Negombo to unwind on the beach. (Meals: breakfast)

Days 10 - 13: Negombo (12-night itinerary)

Spend your days on Negombo’s coastline relaxing on sun-kissed beaches and basking in the waters of the Indian Ocean. Explore Negombo’s temples and churches and gorge yourself silly on delicious Sri Lankan fare. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 14: Negombo - Colombo - Night on board

After breakfast, head to the airport for your flight back home, spending a night on board before you arrive. (Meals: breakfast)

Please note that your inbound and outbound flights are overnight, so be sure to take this into account when planning the time you'll be away.

What is a deposit?

In short, you pay Secret Escapes a non-refundable deposit to secure your holiday, then you pay the holiday supplier the remaining balance of the holiday - as advertised - at a later date (before you travel).

We've added deposit-only sales to enable our members to get early-bird access to more amazing holidays, and because we know that planning and paying for a holiday can take time.
