Sudbury House
Faringdon, Oxfordshire
An elegant stay at a country hotel on the edge of the Cotswolds, with plush interiors and an award-winning restaurant – includes breakfast, dinner allowance and a glass of fizz
Conveniently located on the edge of the Cotswolds, between Swindon and Oxford, Sudbury House in part comprises a white Grade II-listed Georgian house that previously belonged to Sir William Glock, former BBC Controller of Music. It’s likely you’ll soon be singing the praises of its effortless approach to hospitality, which earned it a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
The other half of the hotel is in a newer building, seamlessly incorporated with the old and overlooking nine acres of well-kept gardens. Rooms are tastefully refurbished, and the lounge is great for a pre-dinner tipple in cosy surrounds. Dining is the real cherry on the cake here, with a choice of two restaurants; the double Rosette-awarded Magnolia Brasserie and the triple Rosette-awarded Restaurant 56. Headed up by Executive Chef Andrew Scott (who featured on last year's Great British Menu, representing the central region), Head Chef Nick Bennett (a MasterChef The Professionals finalist) and Head Chef Ben Bullen who also featured on the Great British Menu.
