Location and what's nearby

Helm Road, Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere, LA23 3BA

The Lake District never loses its capacity to enchant, so you can expect lashings of fabulousness and finery at this beautiful bolthole half a mile from the shores of Lake Windermere - England’s largest watery wonder that stretches for over 10 miles between Ambleside and Newby Bridge. The Ro Hotel Windermere is perched in the middle of Bowness-on-Windermere, a former fishing village that’s now the best (and busiest) place to catch a boat for a trip around the lake.

Historic sites of interest include the Neolithic Stone Circle at Castlerigg, the Bronze Age settlement at Threlkeld and the Roman fort at Hardknott Pass which makes for one of England's most spectacular drives. Know that you’re following in the footsteps of Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, who both spent time in the area (in fact, you’re only a two-minute walk from the delightful World of Beatrix Potter).
