Accommodation

Each of the 67 historic, TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence-winning Victorian abodes is individually decorated and named after the former or current Mississippi riverboat depicted in the picture hanging on its wall. Among the modern amenities you’ll enjoy are fine linens, Wi-Fi access and a Keurig coffeemaker.

Dining

The various dining outlets – regularly patronised by locals, as well as guests – offer a classic Victorian atmosphere, along with delicious Midwestern or international cooking. The Port is the fine-dining room on the lower level, specializing in regional cuisine prepared from local produce and livened up with international inflections; indoor-outdoor The Veranda pairs Californian and Mediterranean dishes, among others, with Deco-inspired cocktails and mocktails. Jimmy’s is the resident British pub and venue for Friday night’s live entertainment.

Head to Clara’s Gifts & Coffee for Wisconsin’s BLUECAF java and Izzy’s ice cream. Trivia nights take place through autumn and spring; a rooftop patio opens in summer; and holiday buffets are offered on Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.

Location

Once an international capital of the wheat-trading industry, Red Wing is a charming city on the mighty Mississippi River, known for Victorian architecture, a variety of music and arts venues – including the landmark Sheldon Theatre – and proximity to excellent natural attractions. Fish, boat, or swim on the river itself, or head out biking, skiing and snowboarding throughout the area. More than 15 golf courses reside throughout this part of Minnesota, as does Lake Pepin’s Frontenac State Park, known for its bird migration. Minneapolis and St. Paul are roughly an hour drive away.
