Embark on a seven-night trip through Sri Lanka’s diverse landscapes, with travel, half board and excursions included
Positioned just off the southern coast of India, the tear-drop shaped island of Sri Lanka is a kaleidoscopic destination that boasts emerald-green rainforests, sugary sands and ancient monuments. Spend seven nights hopping between its best bits, taking in the exotic scenery and wildlife and the serene coastline, with a handful of eye-opening excursions included.
The first stop on your Sri Lankan adventure is Udawalawe, where you’ll get to visit a rehabilitation facility for orphaned elephants and marvel at these wonderful creatures as they familiarise themselves with their stunning natural habitat. You'll also take a game drive into the Udawalawe National Park, so keep your eyes peeled for its fascinating residents. You’ll spend two nights at the eco-friendly Grand Udawalawe Safari Resort with its stunning natural surroundings – the perfect position for you to explore.
After a visit to the pilgrimage town of Kataragama, sacred to Buddhist, Hindu and Vedda people, you’ll head to Yala for two nights of adventure. Yala has one of the highest leopard densities in the world, and with the Yala Chandrika Hotel only half an hour away from the Yala National Park, it’s the ideal base for spotting leopards on safari. After an adrenaline-filled day, cool off in the resort’s pool or head to the spa for total holistic healing and relaxation. If you’re lucky you might catch a glimpse of avifauna, the endemic migratory birds that often pay a visit.
You’ll head to the Handungugoda Tea Plantation and the historic Galle Fort – a 16th-century Dutch colonial fort and UNESCO World Heritage Site – before bounding off to the Sri Lankan coast of Waskaduwa for three nights of ultimate bliss. Overlooking the mass blue of Indian Ocean, Citrus Waskaduwa is the true essence of luxury and sun-soaked tranquillity, with breath-taking views and delicious cuisine. The resort has an unspoiled 400 metre long stretch of golden-sand which will make your last few days in Sri Lanka an experience of true relaxation.
