A wholesome holiday exploring South Africa's stunning landscapes, including flights, some transfers, car hire and two bush safaris
South Africa packs a punch, with wildlife, beaches, bustling cities and lush Winelands - you’ll get the chance to discover its varied landscape on this nine-night adventure. Landing in cosmopolitan Cape Town, you'll spend your first three nights at Protea Hotel by Marriott Cape Town Waterfront Breakwater Lodge, a short walk from the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, and its buzzing restaurants, shops and marina. Take some time to explore the city, perhaps taking the cable car to the top of looming Table Mountain, visiting Cape Point, wandering the verdant Kirstenbosch Gardens or viewing the city's colonial buildings.
You'll then venture on eastbound to Stellenbosch in South Africa's Winelands, where you'll spend two nights at WedgeView Country House & Spa - a five-star hotel set in an authentic country house, complete with charming thatched roof and an outdoor swimming pool. Head out into the region to get a true taste of it, by visiting vineyards and sampling the wines and cheese with which the area is synonymous.
It's onto South Africa's world-renowned wildlife next, with two nights in Oudtshoorn - famous for its ostrich farms - at the spectacular Buffelsdrift Game Lodge, set by a magnificent waterhole, which you can admire from the serene outdoor pool. If you don’t catch a glimpse of the Big Five here, don’t worry; two games drives will see you heading out into the bush in the hope of spotting hippos, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and more.
Finally, you'll cruise west, along stunning coastal roads, for a two-night stay at the Harbour House Hotel in Hermanus. This is a great spot for whale watching and shark spotting, or just kicking back at the ocean-view infinity pool to wind down after your exciting trip. Whilst here, take the opportunity to stop at Cape Agulhas - the southernmost tip of the continent of Africa, and the crossroads of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Good to know
