An elegant hotel with a roof terrace in the heart of the Eternal City, near Termini Station and plenty of iconic sights – includes breakfast and a welcome drink

So called due to its delightful communal roof terrace (all 100 square metres of it), Roman Terrace hotel boasts a prime location in the heart of the Eternal City, very close to Termini Station. Despite being so near to all the hubbub, its setting on a pedestrianised street in a dusky terracotta-coloured building, is surprisingly peaceful. Kick back on the flagstone terrace surrounded by fragrant plants and greenery, close your eyes and you'll feel a world away from the city’s legendary hustle and bustle.

With only five guestrooms, the whole place has the air of a private family home rather than hotel, and you’ll often have the terrace all to yourself. You’ll also enjoy access to a small reading area and a shared kitchen. Once out and about, it’s just a short hop to famous Rome attractions, such as the Colosseum and impressive Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore, with Termini Station offering easy transport links to the rest of the city. Also close by is the bohemian Rioni Monti district – crammed with trattorias, hip wine bars and funky vintage boutiques – great for seeing another side of Rome away from the tourist hotspots.
