An enchanting coastal villa near Gallipoli, just a short walk from the crystal-clear waters of Salento - includes breakfast, late check-out and more

Relais Villa Scinata’s no ordinary boutique hotel, and owner Augusto is no ordinary host. Drive through the ornate gates of this centuries-old residence and you’ll immediately feel yourself slip down a gear. Surrounded by tall trees and groves of stooped olives, the scent of Mediterranean herbs fills the air and the sun beats down on the pale gold facade of the villa. Everywhere you look, there’s somewhere new to relax: on the shady loggia, next to the swimming pool, on your own little patio with a glass of something chilled.

Augusto’s thought of everything and goes the extra mile to ensure all of his guests have a wonderful stay – the suites are furnished with all the modern conveniences you’ll need, while dinner is served as and when you want it, on the barbecue or from his own kitchen. Dine on plates of ciceri and tria – a traditional pasta dish from Salento – or grill your own seafood in the garden for a relaxed evening to remember. It's no wonder the property scooped a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.

The beach is a six-minute walk away – the soft sands and crystalline waters of Porto Selvaggio are reached through fragrant woods and and olive groves, or you could hire a car to visit the various beaches around the region. Salento’s a beautifully undiscovered region of Puglia, with pleasant market towns like Nardò and Macedonian-oak backed bays where you can swim with the fishes. Don’t miss exploring the local towns like Gallipoli – its time-worn backstreets hide all manner of treasures like grand castles and opulent churches.
