A fascinating and wildly scenic tour of Sri Lanka, followed by a dreamy all-inclusive escape to the Maldives with seaplane transfers and the option of a romantic water villa

Day 1: Negombo

Arrive in Colombo and travel a short distance north to Negombo, a coastal town with a golden beach and centuries-old fishing heritage. While here, you’ll visit a vibrant local fish market and ancient Buddhist temple.

Day 2: Negombo - Udawalawe

Today, after a visit to historic Galle Fort, you’ll travel to Udawalawe National Park, a sanctuary for wildlife including the Sri Lankan elephant, leopards, wild boar, eagles and crocodiles. Why not opt to head out on a thrilling Jeep safari at dusk (for an additional cost), when the animals are most active.

Day 3: Udawalawe - Haputale

Visit the Elephant Transit Home, a facility for orphaned elephant calves, before travelling onwards to Haputale where you’ll spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 4: Haputale - Kandy

Surrounded by hills, enchanting Kandy is one of Sri Lanka’s cultural hotspots, and while you’re here, you’ll enjoy a visit to a gem museum, a batik factory, local market and the unmissable Sacred Tooth Relic - one of the most important Buddhist sites in the world. In the evening, you’ll also sit down to a traditional dance show.

Day 5: Kandy

In the morning, you’ll travel to Pilimathalawa, a suburb of Kandy, to visit the Traditional Dancer’s Home. En route, you’ll have the option to explore the Royal Botanical Garden.

Day 6: Kandy - Habarana

Your first stop today will be the awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage Site, Dambulla Cave Temple, a complex of five chambers with over 150 images of Buddha. Afterwards, you’ll spend time in fascinating Sigiriya, where you’ll venture out on a village trek. Discover how local villagers go about their day to day life, observe wildlife and agriculture, and pick fresh vegetables with the help of a farmer, before joining in the preparation of a simple meal.

Day 7: Habarana

Experience what, for many, is the peak of any Sri Lanka adventure with a trip to the towering Sigiriya ‘Lion Rock’ fortress, a citadel with impressive Water Gardens and frescoes. In the evening, you’ll have the option to explore the ancient royal city of Polonnaruwa.

Day 8-12: Habanara - Colombo - Maldives

Your private tour ends with a transfer back to the airport, where you’ll board a flight to the Maldives for four nights of island bliss. This scattering of remote atolls in the Indian Ocean is one of earth’s true paradises, home to a shimmering array of exotic marine life and countless unspoilt islands ringed by clear lagoons. You’ll travel by seaplane to the only resort in the far-flung Faafu Atoll - so as away-from-it-all escapes go, this one is hard to beat. Experience utter tranquility combined with the ease of all-inclusive dining at Filitheyo Island Resort, where you can spot rays and electric-blue shoals around the kaleidoscopic house reef.
