Paris is a city of many parts, each district with its own unique character, history and charm. One such is the 11th arrondissement, a hip and happening area frequented by foodies and fashionistas and home to Opera Bastille, the city’s main opera house. Named after this legendary entertainment venue, Hôtel Paris Bastille Boutet - MGallery by Sofitel occupies a unique and striking 1920s building, first an exotic wood importer and then a chocolate factory. Remnants of its fascinating past abound and it retains its imposing façade, complete with oversized windows, mosaic tiles and original lettering. Interiors are a mix of industrial chic and tasteful minimalism, with plenty of warm natural wood and textured surfaces.

Nods to the hotel’s former incarnation include some to-die-for hot chocolate drinks offered in the stylish Le Bar du Boutet, while a real bonus in the heart of the city is the hotel’s indoor swimming pool where you can take a refreshing dip before setting forth to explore. On your doorstep are a host of cafes, bars, restaurants and quirky shops. Add to this the hotel’s impeccable service and super friendly team of staff and it’s easy to to see why many previous guests have sung the praises of Hôtel Paris Bastille Boutet - MGallery by Sofitel, earning it a coveted TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.

Good to know

During a typical year, about 15-20 Christmas Markets appear across Paris, joined by occasional "pop-up" weekend markets. Traditionally, these picturesque markets span the Advent season beginning four Sundays before Christmas. Look for opening dates from mid-November to mid-December - for instance Champs de Mars (under the Eiffel Tower) opens on 19 November and carries through until 7 January, Christmas Market at Notre Dame Cathedral starts on 15 December and finishes on Christmas Eve, and Tuileries Christmas Market - "The Magic of Christmas" (formerly Champs-Élysées Christmas Market) runs from 24 November - 6 January.
