An award-winning five-star hotel next to Snowdonia National Park, with three AA Rosette dining – includes breakfast and optional three or eight-course dinner

Palé Hall traces its history back to the mid-19th century when it was constructed by Scottish gentleman Henry Robertson. With past guests including Queen Victoria, it's a truly grand and fabulous setting amidst 16 acres of private, landscaped gardens. It's located just outside the small market town of Bala on the edge of Snowdonia and has been awarded the Visit Wales Gold Award, placing it in the top two percent of hotels in the country.

The five-star Palé Hall has been lovingly and intricately restored to all its former glory and boasts a vast vaulted hallway with rich oriental rugs and period furnishings, plus a number of lounges with ceiling frescoes, antiques and original oil paintings. Once run as a shooting estate by the Duke of Westminster, Palé Hall is still a great spot for a range of outdoor pursuits, like fishing, horse riding and shooting.

The fine dining experience here is a reason to visit in itself. With the appraised Head Chef Gareth Stevenson at the helm, it offers a meaningful menu from the very best of the area's fine selection of homegrown ingredients. Chef Stevenson's thoughtful and expert use of flavours and ingredients have earned the restaurant 3 AA Rosettes. Needless to say, Palé Hall carries a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.

The opulent bedrooms are individually designed in a beautiful traditional style. They all show off splendid views of the woods, rolling hills or hotel courtyard, and each has an en-suite bathroom. The decor style evokes classic Victoriana, creating a warm and luxurious atmosphere.

Entice your tastebuds with the likes of lobster and potato salad with mango and cardamon, pan-fried sea bream with leek fondue and saffron cream, and pheasant with pumpkin and cumin purée. There's also the option of private dining in the elegant kitchen turned theatrically-themed Venician dining room, or in the more intimate Library.

Palé Hall is near the small market town of Bala, on the edge of the beautiful Bala Lake in a spectacular part of the Welsh countryside surrounded by the mountains, moorlands and valleys of Snowdonia - Snowdonia National Park lies just a 45-minute drive away. There are a number of National Trust properties in the area which are well worth visiting. These include the beautiful and varied gardens at Bodnant House, the magnificent medieval fortress and terraced gardens of Powis Castle and the 13th-century Chirk Castle.
