Day 1: UK - Night on board

Get ready to lose yourself in a whole new adventure, setting off from your UK departure airport to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan's thrumming capital. Spend a night on board.

Day 2: Bishkek - Chon Kemin

You’ll arrive in the early hours and transfer straight to your hotel to catch some sleep before your adventure starts. Fuel up on breakfast then start exploring Bishkek - this city has a complicated past and sits in a spectacular location on the edge of the Tian Shan mountain range. Ala-Too Central Square is first up on the list, followed by a visit to the State Historical Museum. You’ll trace the country’s Soviet past at the Lenin Statue and Victory Square, then depart for the Chon Kemin Valley, where the tranquil surrounds of an authentic guesthouse await. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 3: Chon Kemin - Lake Issyk Kul - Karakol

Admire the jawdropping landscapes of Kyrgyzstan today en route to Karakol. You’ll drive along the shore of Lake Issyk Kul, the seventh deepest lake in the world, stopping to admire Scythian carvings and break for traditional local food at lunchtime. Learn about the life of N. M. Prjevalskiy, an inspirational Russian explorer who journeyed through the Tian Shan mountains then continue to Karakol; only 150 kilometres from the Chinese border, this city has a fascinating blend of cultures. (Meals: breakfast, lunch)

Day 4: Karakol - Djety Oguz Canyon - Karakol

You’ll spend the morning traversing the red rock canyons of Jety Oguz - an unlikely blend of Grand Canyon-like red rock with alpine pastures and lush pine forests - soaking up the natural beauty. Head back to Karakol in the afternoon for a city tour, visiting the fascinating Dungana Mosque, built in a Chinese style. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. (Meals: breakfast, lunch)

Day 6: Karakol - Kochkor - Naryn

Spend the day travelling today, towards Naryn, once an important caravan stop. On the way, you’ll have the chance to take part in eagle hunting, yurt assembly or carpet weaving experiences. Savour the incredible views from the top of Dolon Pass, 3000 metres above sea level. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 7: Naryn - Tash-Rabat - Naryn

After breakfast, set off for the Tash-Rabat Caravanserai, a Middle-Aged silk road monument. Enjoy lunch in a local yurt before heading back to Naryn. (Meals: breakfast, lunch)

Day 8: Naryn - Bishkek

Tuck into breakfast then start heading back towards the capital, Bishkek. Visit the Burana Tower Architectural Complex en route, one of the last remaining parts of the ancient 9th-century city of Balasgyn. Spend a final evening in the capital. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 9: Bishkek - UK

Depart Kyrgyzstan this morning after a magical, one-of-a-kind trip. (Meals: breakfast)

In short, you pay Secret Escapes a non-refundable deposit to secure your holiday, then you pay the holiday supplier the remaining balance of the holiday - as advertised - at a later date (before you travel).
