Enjoy an unforgettable, diverse tour of Sri Lanka's ancient sites, lush national parks and natural wonders, plus some chill-out time on the beach – includes all travel, half board and exciting excursions throughout

Day 1: Bandaranaike – Habarana

Arrive in Sri Lanka and transfer to Habarana. Check in to Habarana Village by Cinnamon. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. (Meals: dinner)

Day 2: Habarana

Enjoy an early morning visit to the Dambulla Dedicated Economical Centre, a marketplace where hundreds of buyers gather each morning to bargain and purchase large quantities of fruit, vegetables and fish. Return for a hearty breakfast before setting off on an evening hike up Sigiriya, an ancient rock fortress towering 600 feet above the plains below. Soak up the panoramic views, then return to the hotel for dinner. (Meals: breakfast and dinner)

Day 3: Habarana

Pay a visit to the impressive Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site showcasing some of the country’s most important and evocative religious art. Images of Buddha were first created some 2,000 years ago, and the views of the surrounding countryside from here are to die for. Return to the hotel and opt to take a Jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, home to herds of elephants, flocks of birds, water buffalo and more. (Meals: breakfast and dinner)

Day 4: Habarana – Kandy

Head to the hill capital of Kandy. Check in to Cinnamon Citadel Kandy then explore the National Spice Gardens in Matale with a local guide. Get to know what spices Sri Lanka is so famous for, then opt to purchase what you have smelt or tried at the end. The rest of the day is at leisure; we recommend paying a visit to the Peradeniya Botanic Gardens. (Meals: breakfast and dinner)

Day 5: Kandy

Enjoy a city tour of Kandy, the last capital of the ancient Kings’ Era. Explore the city’s intriguing and inspiring cultural sights, none more impressive than the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of Buddhism’s most sacred shrines. (Meals: breakfast and dinner)

Day 6: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Make your way to the famous Hill Country town of Nuwara Eliya via some of the most scenic routes in the country. Soak up incredible panoramic views along the way, then call in at a tea plantation and factory. This region is famous all over the world for its tea production, and you’ll get to see the whole process of how Ceylon Tea is made before sampling a cup or two yourself at the end. Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya, check in to Galway Heights Nuwara Eliya. (Meals: breakfast and dinner)

Day 7: Nuwara Eliya – Udawalawe National Park

It’s a long drive today as you head south to the lush jungles of Udawalawe National Park - this is the place to come if you want to spot Asiatic elephants in their natural habitat. Enjoy an afternoon game drive and get the chance to spot the water buffalo, deer, jackals, flocks of birds and elusive leopards that call the park home. After your game drive, check in to Centauria Wild Resort Udawalalwe. (Meals: breakfast and dinner)

Day 8: Udawalawe National Park – Beruwala

Given the human-elephant conflict that takes place across the country, Sri Lanka’s elephants are an endangered species, and as a result, many young elephants are orphaned when their mothers or matriarchs are killed. In association with the Born Free Foundation, the Department of Wildlife Conservation has set up the Elephant Transit Home, a facility designed to rehabilitate orphaned baby elephants with an aim to ultimately release them back into their natural habitat. Visit this conservation initiative before continuing to Beruwala. Upon arrival, check in to Cinnamon Bey Beruwala. (Meals: breakfast and dinner)

Day 9: Beruwala

Enjoy a slice of sun, sea and sand today as you spend your day at leisure on Beruwala’s silky sands. (Meals: breakfast and dinner)

Day 10: Beruwala - Bandaranaike - UK

Transfer back to the airport and catch your flight home to the UK. (Meals: breakfast)
