An unforgettable Golden Triangle tour, with incredible excursions and a foray into the Himalayas with unique toy train ride - breakfast and all travel included
There's nothing quite like India; a captivating commotion of colour and clamour, smiling faces and iconic scenery - and that's just for starters. Get lost among ancient, deserted cities, impressive architectural triumphs, bustling markets and more UNESCO World Heritage sites than you shake a sitar at. With this eight-night jaunt, you'll get a true taste of this charismatic country, as you hop from one dazzling destination to another.
Your packed itinerary of cultural charms kicks off in India's wonderfully chaotic capital, with a tour of Delhi's spectacular sights. Here, you’ll weave through the bustling market stalls of Chandni Chowk - on a rickshaw, should you wish - and visit Raj Ghat. You'll then head to Agra, home of the impressive Agra Fort and what's widely considered the world's most beautiful building - the illustrious Taj Mahal.
Transferring to Jaipur for two nights, you'll journey to the magnificent primal palaces of Amber Fort, stopping by one of Jaipur’s most distinctive landmarks en route - the extraordinarily delicate, honeycomb adornments of the Hawa Mahal.
You'll then fly to Chandigarh and head onto the enchanting mountainside city of Shimla, nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, steeped among pine, oak and rhododendron forests. A tour here reveals the fantastic architecture of the Viceregal Lodge, before a stroll along the Mall to Scandal Point.
Next up, it's time to board one of India's three UNESCO World Heritage List rail lines, the Kalka-Shimla Railway. You'll chug along to Solan via the 'toy train' - a narrow gauge line with 102 tunnels, built by the British in 1903 and where the speed rarely exceeds 20 miles per hour, taking in breathtaking, snow-clad Himalayan views - and then transfer by road to Kalka and onwards by express train to Delhi for one final night and some last-minute shopping, before flying home.
