Spend a scenic week cruising Egypt's majestic Nile on a luxurious, authentic 1920s-style sailing boat - includes full board, all travel and a suite option

Fulfil a dream and sail the Nile aboard the elegant, family-owned Dahabiya Dream. The Nile is the nurturing lifeblood of the earliest and most advanced of the world's ancient civilisations and its importance in world history cannot be underestimated, nor can its sense of evocative mystery, its beauty, and the impact of the vast temples and monuments on its shores.

Aboard the Dahabiya Dream, you'll travel with highly trained staff and a fluent, English-speaking Egyptologist who will reveal the marvels of the ancient world that you'll see as you make your way south from Luxor to Aswan. The boat itself is designed to be as close as possible to a traditional Nile cruise boat, which the likes of Howard Carter - whose house you’ll be visiting as part of your trip, along with the replica of Tutankhamun's tomb - would have travelled on when first exploring Egypt.

As you make your way towards Aswan and back towards Luxor, you'll see some of the most important and impressive archaeological sites of antiquity. The Valley of Kings and the Karnak Temple are unparalleled sites of Pharaonic significance, and Kom Ombo is a fascinating and beautiful example of the durability of ancient design principles and the arrival of Roman influence.

While on board the traditional Dahabiya Dream, you can chill out on the sun deck and admire the view, or curl up in a shady spot with a book. Each day, you'll be served delicious Egyptian and European fare, using traditional spices. You'll bed down each evening in a luxurious cabin, perfect for recharging your batteries before another day on the Nile's waters.

Dahabiya Dream (seven nights)

A true labour of love, hand-built by local craftsmen over an 18-month period, using centuries-old traditional working methods, the Dahabiya Dream is a 1920s-style Nile sailing boat. The amazing attention to detail includes handmade furniture and even hand-sewn sails. A true sailboat from top to bottom, the Dahabiya Dream isn't powered by engines, which means that there's no vibration or noise to disturb you as you float peacefully down the Nile.

Its six luxury cabins are all themed after great historic explorers, including Howard Carter and Amelia Edwards. Stay in a Luxury cabin, or opt for the Royal Suite cabin, with its very own private balcony. You'll enjoy a full-board basis throughout your stay, with all meals prepared by a chef using the very best produce (dietary requirements can be catered for). Best of all, some of the profits from your stay will be ploughed back into worthwhile local community projects.
