An incredible adventure to South Africa's east coast, with luxurious full-board lodge stays in game and nature reserves, before a five-star Durban hotel - with all travel, most meals, game drives and more

Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve

Located just outside the gates of the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve, your spectacular game lodge, Rhino Ridge, awaits. This is one of the oldest nature reserves in Africa, and your lodge is the only private lodge within it, giving you a unique perspective of this stunning park - the home of the rhino. You’ll find the densest population of white rhino on the planet here, living alongside African elephants, zebra, buffalo and lions - also known as the Big 5. Hopefully, you’ll get the chance to spot them all on your twice-daily game drives. Add to this bush walks, bird watching and a rejuvenating spa, and you’re in for a truly magical escape.

iSimangaliso Wetland Park

This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a generous slice of unbridled nature at its very best: 332,000 hectares with three major lake systems and most of South Africa's remaining swamp forest is that's just the start. You'll stay in a luxurious eco-lodge that sits right on the beach, backed by the park's lush wilderness. If you're here from November to February, you'll be able to witness the turtle-breeding season, whilst stays from April to June can enjoy the year's best weather conditions. Activities abound from your lodge, such as scuba diving and kayaking. "iSimangaliso" translates as "miracle and wonder", and over your three-night stay here, you'll soon learn why the park deserves its name.

Durban

With the Indian Ocean lapping at its lovely golden beaches, you’ll exchange hiking boots and 4x4s for flip flops and catamarans in your next stop: Durban. Enjoy poolside sundowners while the Indian Ocean sky turns orange, or spend the evenings wandering the sands. If you feel the need to leave the loungers, Durban has a large collection of African art in its Baroque City Hall, and an understated food scene - don’t miss out on Bunny Chow, a traditional farmer’s meal of curry inside a hollowed-out bread loaf; now a Durban staple.

Can't commit to booking right now?

Hold a date for only £25 while you decide.

  • Pay £25 to hold a date until the end of the sale.
  • If you choose to buy it, the money will go towards your purchase, if not, the cash will be credited to your Secret Escapes account.

Important: Please note, this is not a deposit, complete or guaranteed booking; holding the date simply prevents other members from swooping in and booking your preferred date while you're still having a think about it. Secret Escapes will not be liable for expenses incurred should that date not be available to book and a hold is cancelled.

For more details, please see our FAQ page.

What is a deposit?

In short, you pay Secret Escapes a non-refundable deposit to secure your holiday, then you pay the holiday supplier the remaining balance of the holiday - as advertised - at a later date (before you travel).

We've added deposit-only sales to enable our members to get early-bird access to more amazing holidays, and because we know that planning and paying for a holiday can take time.
