In 1869 the Bavarian King Ludwig II commissioned Neuschwanstein Castle. The king only lived in the castle for a few months before he died, and the complex was completed. The steepest cog railway in the world leads from Alpnachstad to a breathtaking 2,073m. Adrenaline junkies can practice numerous sports such as paragliding, mountain biking or climbing Mount Pilatus itself. We continue through to Austria. On the outskirts of Krimml in the Hohe Tauern National Park, you will find the Krimml Waterfalls – the highest waterfalls in Austria with a height of 385m. The first tourists came to the waterfalls as early as the 18th<\/sup> century. Today the Krimml Waterfalls are one of the great attractions in Austria. You can explore the surrounding area on foot through various hiking trails and will always be rewarded with impressive views. In the summer months, the waterfall path leads you up close to the mighty waterfalls.
