Discover the highlights of Thailand, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket, plus the cultural gems of Luang Prabang and Siem Reap, with optional excursions and tours

Days 1-4: Bangkok & River Kwai

You’ll begin your Thailand getaway in Bangkok, where the old and new converge to make up one of Asia’s most exciting destinations. As one of the city’s best-connected districts, Sukhumvit is one of the most convenient bases for a trip to Thailand’s buzzing capital. For mall shopping, both Terminal 21 and EmQuartier lie a short 10-minute walk down the street, while Bangkok's famous street food scene is a point of national pride. During your stay, head 100km west to take a boat ride through the canals of the floating market at Damnoen Saduak. Afterwards, you’ll visit Kanchanaburi’s famous ‘Bridge over the River Kwai’, the Allied War Cemetery and the historic Burma-Thailand Railway, known as Death Railway.

Distance from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport: 25km

Days 4-7: Chiang Mai

Next, you’ll travel to mesmerising Chiang Mai. With its soaring mountains, calming river and ancient Buddhist temples, this city is rich with both natural and cultural wonders. Between adventures, recharge with a cooling dip in your boutique hotel’s saltwater swimming pool and browse Maya Mall, five minutes away. You’ll uncover the city on a guided tour, driving past markets, through intriguing residential areas and Chiang Mai’s buzzing main street, as well as taking in Wat Phra Sing, Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Chiang Mai and Wat Suan Dok.

Distance from Chiang Mai International airport: 6km

Days 7-10: Luang Prabang

Relatively new to tourism, mountainous Laos is shaped by the mighty Mekong River that flows from China through to Vietnam. Charming Luang Prabang is a UNESCO-protected city with a deeply spiritual culture. In this UNESCO-protected city, you’ll experience the morning Phousi Market, where dried buffalo skins, local tea, hill-tribe weavings and fresh produce are traded, before visiting the villages of three different Lao ethnic minority groups. Afterwards, head to Khuang Si Waterfall for a refreshing dip or a gentle trek along the forest trails, before uncovering more of the city on a half-day tour. Take in the Royal Palace Museum, the majestic Wat Xiengthong, the Wat Visoun stupa, and finish the day on Phousi hill at sunset.

Distance from Luang Prabang International: 5km

Days 10-13: Siem Reap

Siem Reap is the gateway to the incredible Temples of Angkor - one of the most important and awe-inspiring archeological sites in Southeast Asia. While here, you’ll explore several of the magnificent ruins on a full-day guided tour, beginning early in the morning while the warmth is mild and the sun is still rising. With local expertise on hand, you'll discover the 13th-century Angkor Thom, including the South Gate, Bayon, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King, finishing at the Royal Enclosure. In the afternoon, head to show-stealing Angkor Wat - a worthy finale to a fascinating experience.

Distance from Siem Reap International airport: 13km

Days 13-18: Phuket

Along Natai Beach’s powdery white sands, you'll have front row seats to spectacular sunsets over the azure Andaman Sea. You'll be located just a short distance north of Phuket Island so you'll enjoy a less crowded neighbourhood but still remain a short drive from the rest of Phuket's sight's - including Sirinat National Park and Kamala Beach. If you're keen on exploring Phuket's quiet bays and shallow reefs, dive trips can be organised in the Chalong Bay area. Phuket Town is located an hour's drive away.

Distance from Phuket International airport: 25km
