A show-stopping self-drive trip along South Africa's stunning Garden Route with stops in Stellenbosch and Tsitsikamma, including breakfast, flights, airport transfers and car hire

Cape Town

Crowned by the flat-topped beauty that is Table Mountain (and smaller sibling, Lion’s Head), Cape Town is more than just a pretty face; its creative soul shines through in a rich arts and culture scene, a jam-packed festival calendar and an innovative culinary landscape. After being greeted at the airport and taken to your hotel, you’ll have a few days to float around and see all the sights.

Stellenbosch

Pick up your hire car and leave Cape Town behind, making your way to Stellenbosch, which sits in the famed Cape Winelands roughly 50 kilometres outside the city. What else would you do with your time here in the Cape Winelands, other than take a wine tour or enjoy a tasting session at one of the area's famed wine estates? There are plenty of estates to discover nearby. To take in the surrounding natural beauty, head into Jonkershoek Nature Reserve.

Knysna

Lying 34 degrees south of the equator, Knysna is situated in the heart of the Garden Route. This charming, oceanside town makes an excellent base from which to explore the outstanding natural beauty nearby; think golden beaches, ancient forests, tranquil lakes and awesome mountains. And here's a fun fact: It's home to South Africa's only forest elephant, which is the smallest of the world's three living elephant's species.

Tsitsikamma National Park

This charming village is nestled in the verdant Tsitsikamma National Park, making it a perfect springboard for some seriously scenic exploration. Tsitsikamma is a khoi word meaning "place of abundant or sparkling water" and you'll soon discover why if you visit the beautiful Storms River Mouth area. Spend your days here hiking through the unspoilt terrain, crossing Storm River Suspension Bridge or ziplining, and you can even take a segway tour if you fancy it.

Port Elizabeth

Your last port of call is Port Elizabeth, otherwise known as South Africa's 'Windy City' - a coastal hub of the Eastern Cape. Scenically set on Algoa Bay, it offers plenty of urban-backed beaches, whilst slightly further afield you'll find an abundance of wildlife - for example, in neighbouring Addo Elephant National Park. Wildlife lovers may also like to take the opportunity to head out whale spotting, with one of the many coastal boat tours on offer from the city.

Good to know

This holiday allows you to spread the cost of your break by paying only the deposit upfront. The remaining balance is due at a later date and is to be paid directly to the holiday supplier (the exact date will be stated on your booking confirmation).

Can't commit to booking right now?

Hold a date for only £25 while you decide.

  • Pay £25 to hold a date until the end of the sale.
  • If you choose to buy it, the money will go towards your purchase, if not, the cash will be credited to your Secret Escapes account.

Important: Please note, this is not a deposit, complete or guaranteed booking; holding the date simply prevents other members from swooping in and booking your preferred date while you're still having a think about it. Secret Escapes will not be liable for expenses incurred should that date not be available to book and a hold is cancelled.

For more details, please see our FAQ page.

What is a deposit?

In short, you pay Secret Escapes a non-refundable deposit to secure your holiday, then you pay the holiday supplier the remaining balance of the holiday - as advertised - at a later date (before you travel).

We've added deposit-only sales to enable our members to get early-bird access to more amazing holidays, and because we know that planning and paying for a holiday can take time.
