The adventure of a lifetime across Cambodia and Vietnam, with highlights including a sleeper train to Sapa, a luxury junk-ship cruise, a boutique stay near Angkor Wat and a romantic five-star pool villa

Days 1-4: Siem Reap

Your adventure begins in Siem Reap where the star attraction is, of course, the breathtaking Angkor Wat. Spread over 162 hectares, this UNESCO World Heritage Site commands more than just an afternoon amble - you'll need time to appreciate it all in its fascinating glory and wander other nearby ruins like Ta Prohm and Angkor Thom. Once you're templed out, delve deeper into the area’s storied past with a visit to the Angkor National Museum or unwind with a drink and a spot of people watching on Pub Street.

Days 4-5: Hanoi

Next, you'll fly to Vietnam’s capital, the chaotic culinary destination of Hanoi, where you’ll be staying at a five-star hotel near the Old Quarter. From your location in this history-steeped neighbourhood, head out to discover this intoxicating city on foot, being sure to spend time by the lake and at the notorious Hoa Lo Prison, the 'Hanoi Hilton'.

Days 5-6: Lan Ha Bay

After your first stay in Hanoi, you’ll head off on the greatest adventure of your trip. Set sail through beautiful Lan Ha Bay, a less-crowded alternative to neighbouring Halong Bay, spending two days and one night aboard a luxurious V’Spirit Premier Cruises ship. While on board, you can choose to explore Lan Ha Bay’s stunning limestone islands, white-sand beaches, mysterious caves and sparkling waters with activities like kayaking and swimming, try your hand at squid fishing, marvel at the awe-inspiring Sung Sot Cave and hike to Titov island for panoramic views.

Days 6-7: Hanoi

Return to Hanoi for an overnight stay before your next adventure.

Days 7-8: Victoria Express Train to Sapa

You’ll travel to Sapa next - and by no ordinary means. Aboard the Victoria Express Train, journey overnight into the cooler climes of this mountainous region. From the comfort of your kitted-out cabin you can enjoy gorgeous views of the passing green landscapes as the sun rises.

Days 8-10: Sapa

The emerald-green jewel of north-west Vietnam, Sapa is a wonderland of mist-shrouded valleys, undulating hills and staggered rice terraces. It’s paradise for hikers and bikers, with highlights including the Silver Waterfall (Thac Bac), Ham Rong Mountain and the Moung Hoa Valley. The area’s unique appeal lies not only in the gorgeously verdant landscapes, which alter beautifully with the seasons, but the fascinating hill-tribe communities whose colourful dress enlivens the scenery even more.

Days 10-13: Ho Chi Minh City

Next, you'll travel to Ho Chi Minh City and bed down at the classic Equatorial Hotel Ho Chi Minh City. From your central location, discover colonial landmarks like the 19th-century Central Post Office and the awe-inspiring Notre-Dame Cathedral, made entirely of materials imported from France. Delve into the country’s fascinating history, influences of which can be seen in the tantalising local food around every corner. And when you need a break from the buzz at street level, ascend to the rooftop pool - the swim-up bar is just the place to wind down on a balmy afternoon.

Days 13-17: Ninh Van Bay

Set between the calm waters of Ninh Van Bay and a rugged backdrop of mountains and lush jungle, your third hotel puts you in a prime position to appreciate Vietnam's natural splendour. Not only will you be staying in a luxurious, sensitively designed villa with a private pool tucked into the lush hillside, you'll also have access to a stunning sweep of sandy beach. Take a dip in the sea or head further out to explore the bay's marine life on a snorkelling tour. For a change of pace, hire a private guide and trek inland to discover the region's abundant wildlife.
