A French manor house in rural Normandy, with a Michelin-starred chef and ample outdoor pursuits - includes breakfast, a dinner option, and bike rental

  • Le Manoir du Lys is a boutique hotel nestled in the heart of Normandy's Andaine Forest, surrounded by a natural habitat of leafy parkland and French orchards. Emulating an authentic hunter's lodge in three hectares of private land, it blends modern interiors with period features.

  • Franck Quinton, a long-standing, Michelin-starred chef, runs the elegant restaurant. Indulge in perfectly paired wines with the expert knowledge of a sommelier and creative, regionally inspired dishes from the à la carte menu. You can also head to Aldo's Bar for champagne and delicate piano music.

  • There are plenty of activities to keep you busy at this TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence awardee: go for a swim in the impressive open-air pool during summer, host a friendly competition at the tennis courts, or cycle around the beautifully verdant Andaine forest, spotting wildlife and flora.

Highlights

The small settlement of Bagnoles de L’Orne is located in the heart of the Andaine Forest in Normandy. A plethora of footpaths and hiking trails litter the forest and can easily explored by bike from the hotel's collection.

For the more culturally minded, there are historic buildings like the Chateau de Carrouges, which hosted Louis XI in 1473 and Catherine de Medici in 1570, and quaint villages to stroll around, like Saint-Ceneri-le-Gerei, which often hosts food markets and religious festivals at certain times of the year.
