Delve into the lights of Las Vegas with a helicopter flight and Vegas show, then explore the canyons of Arizona and Utah, from Flagstaff to Zion - includes flights and car hire
Las Vegas
Your first destination on this exhilarating adventure is Las Vegas, Nevada’s most famous (and infamous) city. With four nights here you’ll have plenty of time to delve into what makes this chaotic, over-the-top city tick. Though you’ll undoubtedly spend some time on the tables, Sin City isn’t all about gambling. You’ll catch a Vegas show - either the Las Vegas Live Comedy Club or V the Ultimate Variety Show (date dependent), and fly high over the luminous strip on a thrilling helicopter flight. Other things to do include watching the magical Bellagio fountains, and admiring vintage Vegas signs at the Neon Museum.
Flagstaff
Collect your hire car on the fifth morning of your trip, and set off towards Flagstaff, often thought of as the gateway to the Grand Canyon. Follow the road out of Vegas, and you’ll pass by the world-famous Hoover Dam, which is more than worth a stop and a gaze over the towering concrete walls. With two days here there’s more than enough time to explore one of the wonders of the natural world: the Grand Canyon, just an hour and a half away. Admire the absolutely awe-inspiring landscapes that extend for miles in front of you - it's a sight that simply cannot be described in words.
Lake Powell
It’s a two-and-a-half-hour drive north to Lake Powell now, where you’ll be just a 10-minute drive from the Utah border. This lovely lake (actually a reservoir), boasts the tell-tale red rock formations that give this area of the world its other-worldly atmosphere. Just a short drive down the road is the absolute must-see sight of Horseshoe Bend, a magical Oxbow Lake on the curving Colorado River, and if you want the true natural northern Arizona experience, Antelope Canyon should be at the top of your list. To lay eyes on this wonder, an unfathomably beautiful slot canyon created by millennia of seasonal rains, you’ll need to be sure to book well in advance.
Zion National Park
After exploring the alien worlds of northern Arizona, its time to move on to south-west Utah, in the town of St George, just 45 minutes from the gates of Zion National Park and right on the edge of the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area. You could spend weeks exploring this corner of the USA, but two days will show you its beauty, that’s for sure. A day in Zion, visiting the Human History Museum and talking a walk along one of the more chilled out trails is the perfect way to round off this incredible, wonder-filled adventure.
