Discover the wonders of Jordan’s capital city, Amman, and majesty of world wonder Petra, with a stay by the Dead Sea - includes breakfast throughout, all travel and excursions

Amman

Amman is Jordan’s jaw-dropping capital, a hubbub of culinary wonder and ancient sights, but by no means the cultural heart of the country - for Jordanian culture permeates into every corner of this incredible country. You’ll be heading out on excursions to Jerash and Ajloun, two of north Jordan’s most important historical sights and prime examples of a past maintained, as well as visiting sights in Amman itself - the Citadel and the Roman Theatre.

While you’re here, don’t neglect to try some of the country’s best dishes: Hashems’s is a no-reservations, no-cutlery, no-menu institution, where soft falafel dipped in houmous is eaten by hand. Habibah sweets serve what many profess is Jordan’s best kunafeh, a sweet-turned-savoury treat of pastry and cheese drowned in rose-flavoured syrup - a taste not to be missed.

Dead Sea

After three nights in Amman, you’ll move south towards the Dea Sea, the lowest point on earth and world-famous for having the world’s saltiest waters. Aside from bathing (or more accurately, floating) in this sea and blissing out in local mud spas, you’ll be venturing to see Jordan’s most famous site during your time here.

Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Wonder of the World and is undoubtedly one of the most unfathomable sights you’ll ever see. You’ll wander down the Siq and be rewarded with views of the Treasury as you enter the wide canyon, the continue on to explore the rest of this vast complex, or just sit and marvel at the ornate facade of the treasury for hours.
