Day 1: Delhi

Arrive in Delhi and spend the day at leisure in this colourful, sprawling metropolis.

Day 2: Delhi

Head out on a tour of Old and New Delhi, taking in the Red Fort, the Lotus Temple, India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb, Laxmi Narayan Temple, Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India - and Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in the world. You’ll also visit the bustling stalls of Chandi Chowk, one of the oldest and busiest markets in Old Delhi.

Day 3: Delhi - Mandawa

Travel to Mandawa. En route, pass through authentic villages, entering into some of the most rural parts of India. On arrival, tour the streets of the city, taking in the amazing Havelis – a collection of mansions noted for their frescoes depicting images of British colonial rule.

Day 4: Mandawa - Bikaner

Depart by road through the arid lands leading to Bikaner – a major centre of trade during the 16th century. In the afternoon, visit the spectacular Junagarh Fort as well as Bhandasar Jain Temple and Deshnoke Temple or Karni Mata Temple.

Day 5: Bikaner - Jodhpur

Continue onwards to Jodhpur, known as ‘The Blue City’. In the evening, visit the bustling local markets.

Day 6: Jodhpur

Spend the day sightseeing in this captivating city on the edge of the Thar Desert. Discover the impressive Mehrangarh Fort, with its bird’s eye view of the old city, and Jaswant Thada, an imposing marble cenotaph. Afterwards, visit the enormous UmmaidBhawan Palace and the beautiful Mandore Gardens.

Day 7: Jodhpur - Udaipur

Next stop: Udaipur; the centre of Jainism, a city full of lakes and opulent royal palaces. A sunset boat trip on Lake Pichola will give you wonderous views of the Lake Palace of Udaipur and mountains.

Day 8: Udaipur

Uncover Udaipur on a city tour, ticking off the jaw-dropping City Palace, which houses the world’s largest private crystal collection, as well as Fatehsagar Lake, Jagdish Temple, the Garden of Maidens and the Folk Art Museum.

Day 9: Udaipur - Pushkar

You’ll depart for the mountainous region of Pushkar after breakfast. In the afternoon, your tour will take you to the Brahma Temple, a magnificent stone and marble structure that’s an important pilgrimage site for Hindus. You’ll also head to Pushkar Lake, a sacred site surrounded by almost 500 temples and 52 ghats, and the dizzying Pushkar Market, before rustling up something aromatic at an evening cooking class.

Day 10: Pushkar - Jaipur

Hit the local markets early in the morning, then travel to rose-hued Jaipur, where you’ll marvel at the majestic City Palace and the Jantar Mantar observatory.

Distance from Pushkar: 250km

Day 11: Jaipur

Visit the Albert Hall Museum and Hawa Mahal, ‘Palace of the Winds’, and the imposing Amer Fort, stopping en route to marvel at Jal Mahal, an ornate palace set in the middle of a lake.

Day 12: Jaipur - Agra

Transfer to Agra, making a stop at historical Abhaneri village - famed for its beautiful step-well and Harshat Mata Temple.

Day 13: Agra - Delhi

Today you’ll head to the incomparable Taj Mahal in time for sunrise. In the afternoon, spend time at the fascinating Agra Fort, and continue to Delhi where you’ll spend the final night of your trip.
