Lucerne

Enjoy a delightful sojourn to two of Switzerland’s picturesque locations, with a steam railway ride and a cruise on Lake Lucerne - with breakfast throughout, all travel and a three-course lunch

Day 1: Andermatt

In the Swiss Canton of Uri, the beautiful village of Andermatt is the Switzerland of postcard scenes. After transferring from Zurich and checking in to the stellar Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen, why not explore your beautiful environs? In both summer and winter the landscapes are spectacular – snow blankets the mountains and the area offers some of the finest winter skiing, while in the warmer months the slopes are carpeted in wildflowers and the hills are alive with the sound of crunching walking boots and the tapping of hiking poles. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 2: Andermatt & Furka Cogwheel Steam Railway

More spectacular scenery awaits today as you enjoy a ride on the Furka Cogwheel Steam Railway from Realp. Jagged peaks and dusted mountains characterize your journey, originally part of the Glacier Express route, as you zig-zag through the Mutt Glaciers and take in views of the Rhone river. Your journey will take you through a 6,000 foot-long tunnel and across the folding Steffenbach bridge, concluding back in peaceful Andermatt. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 3: Lucerne

Your picturesque Swiss adventure continues onto Lucerne, a gorgeous lakeside city brimming with preserved Medieval architecture and snow-capped mountains. You’ll bed down for two nights at Drei Könige Hotel, which sits charmingly right in the middle of it all – making it an ideal base to uncover the city’s gems, from the Old Town and Chapel Bridge to the cobalt lake and candy-coloured houses. Your stay also includes a visit to the transport museum, where you’ll also find space-themes exhibits and a Swiss Chocolate adventure. Back at the hotel, you can expect Art Nouveau design details alongside spacious guest rooms. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 4: Lucerne & Brienz

After taking in some of Lucerne’s dazzling sights on a private guided walking tour, you’ll board a traditional steamboat for a three-course lunch. You’ll glide along the still waters of Lake Lucerne, absorbing Switzerland’s natural beauty at its finest, before heading back to land. Spend your last night feasting on cheese fondue and platters of cured meats at one of the local bistrots, before retiring to your hotel for a nightcap. (Meals: breakfast, three-course lunch)

Day 5: Lucerne

Sadly, it’s time to leave your picturesque surroundings and fly home. (Meals: breakfast)
