A spellbinding Arctic adventure to Northern Norway, with wildlife excursions, two nights in the Lofoten Islands, a Northern Lights quest and flights

Day 1: UK - Tromsø

On arrival in Tromsø, self-transfer to Quality Hotel Saga (or similar). Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Located 320 kilometres above the Arctic Circle, Tromsø is a buzzing destination with world-class seafood restaurants, nightlife, museums and art galleries.

Day 2: Tromsø - Narvik

Today you'll explore the Tromsø region and its pristine snowy landscapes. You'll visit the planet's northernmost zoo and hopefully meet large Arctic predators, like the lynx, wolf and wolverine, plus more docile animals like elk, reindeer, the musk ox, and the arctic fox. Continue to Narvik, the famous port city known for its strategic location during the Second World War, and check into Scandic Narvik (or similar). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 3: Narvik - Lofoten Islands

You'll drive towards Sortland for a Sami experience at a typical reindeer farm, with the chance to meet and hand-feed these handsome docile animals and try your hand at lassoing. After lunch, you'll drive to Svolvær on the Lofoten Islands, exploring the islands and their fishing villages en route. Sprinkled across the turbulent Norwegian Sea way above the Arctic Circle, these islands are untamed territory that beckon visitors to go hiking, skiing, fishing, ocean rafting, scuba diving or even surfing among otherworldly, secluded landscapes. On arrival at Thon Hotel Lofoten (or similar), relax for the rest of the evening. (Meals: breakfast, light lunch)

Day 4: Svolvær, Lofoten Islands

Today promises free time to explore and participate in some fun winter activities, before a guided evening Northern Lights hunt, crossing your fingers that they'll make an appearance. Squeeze in some feasting on the local cuisine too, like the special stockfish (spawned cod) that's the base product in many of the dishes served in island restaurants. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 5: Svolvær - Tromsø

In the afternoon, depart from Harstad to catch the fast boat (4.15pm) to Tromsø (arriving 7.15pm; timetable subject to change). On arrival, it's a short walk to Quality Hotel Saga (or similar). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 6: Tromsø - UK

It's time to leave spellbinding Norway behind and transfer on your own to the airport, to catch your flight home.

Good to know

Please be aware that the Northern Lights are a naturally occurring phenomenon, so whilst we hope you'll get to see them, we can't guarantee they'll oblige.
