A modern hotel near Antwerp’s fashionable Meir Street
- Antwerp is an exciting city - a combination of modern architecture and old-world elegance is displayed throughout. There’s so much to do here, and the area surrounding Banks, along the river, is populated with museum after museum - so many that you’ll have to organise your time wisely! Visit the towering MAS building in the trendy, hipster-filled neighbourhood of ‘t Eilandje, which provides spectacular views across the city. Be sure to check out the Red Star Line Museum, which tells the stories of some of the 12 million immigrants who landed in New York in the early 20th century, many of whom set sail from Antwerp.
- Meir Street is right around the corner, which houses some of the best (and most expensive) shopping in the Benelux. There’s also Het Steen, the castle-like museum that was once a prison, sawmill and fish warehouse (though not all at once, of course), the famous residence of artist Peter Paul Rubens, as well as a plethora of other museums, parks and market squares to explore.
