Lake District

An award-winning country house hotel with three AA Rosette-awarded dining – includes breakfast, a five-course dinner and a bottle of locally-produced gin

With blue-blooded heritage and a knock-out location overlooking Lake Windermere, the 19th-century Holbeck Ghyll is one of England's finest country hotels. Owned by the Earl of Lonsdale in the late 1880s, the historic charm of this former hunting lodge is matched only by the staggering scenery that surrounds it.

Besides the glorious views across the glassy water to the Langdales Pikes, the hotel has earned itself three AA Rosettes for its excellent food. It also has a quaint log fire for cooler days, and a luxurious spa offering luxury treatments. It's no surprise then, that publications including The Telegraph and The Independent have reviewed the hotel highly, with The Good Hotel Guide listing Holbeck Ghyll as the Editor's choice in previous years. Needless to say, Holbeck Ghyll garnered a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
