A nine-night tour that takes you from Istanbul to Troy, encompassing historic sights, geological wonders and cultural musts - including breakfast, some lunches and dinners, and all travel

Full of world-famous ruins, blanketed in diverse landscapes, and with enough outdoor and cultural pursuits to easily fill the laziest of must-do lists, Turkey makes for an excellent all-round escape. You'll start this nine-night adventure in Istanbul, Turkey's captivating capital, which holds buckets of history, wonderful culture and delicious cuisine. As well as embarking on a boat trip on the Bosphorus, you'll have some time at leisure, so that you can enjoy it all at your own pace, before taking a flight to Ankara.

You'll get to know some of Turkey's history from here, with a visit to both the Mausoleum and the Hittite Museum, before moving on to Cappadocia, visiting the impressive salt lake of Tuz en route. In Cappadocia, you'll discover the lava-rich landscapes and visit the open-air museum of the Goreme Valley - an incredible Byzantine monastic complex made up of churches that's carved into the rocks and houses beautiful frescoes. You'll also get to admire the famous Fairy Chimneys - strange rock formations that look as if they've appeared by magic.

It's on to the capital of the Turkish Sultanate of Rum next, Konya, before reaching Pamukkale. You'll visit Hierapolis, an ancient Hellenistic city, and see the famous Cotton Castle - a natural wonder of gigantic white waterfalls, stalactites and natural pools that formed over centuries by the passage of waters laden with calcareous salts from thermal springs. You'll visit the most well-preserved ancient cities of Asia Minor - Ephesus - before spending the night in Kusadasi.

Set off on a trip to Pergamon, once a rich and powerful ancient Greek city, and visit Asclepion - a sacred site that has existed since as early as the 4th century BC, where you can uncover the fascinating history of this ancient centre of healing. And, you'll visit Troy, the legendary city from the Iliad of Homer, where you'll visit the Temple of Athens. After transferring by ferry across the Sea of Marmara to Istanbul, you'll spend a night in the city and catch your flight home the next day.
