Uncover Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu on half-day city tours and soak up Bali's beach hedonism - includes breakfast, tours, a massage, all travel and a wetlands cruise for longer stays

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Magnetic, forward-facing Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia's capital. You'll go on a heady half-day city tour seeing all the sights. Take in the National Monument, the King’s Palace with its blend of rich Islamic and traditional Malay architecture, and the National Museum and Independence Square for an insight into the city's culture and history. The latter is home to both the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Kuala Lumpur City Gallery. Laced with verdant gardens, the National Mosque is a real treat, crowned with a main dome in green and blue tiles and featuring 48 smaller domes spread across the Mecca-inspired courtyard. Petronas Twin Towers is an unmissable skyline photo stop in the landscaped 50-acre KLCC Park.

Kota Kinabalu, Borneo, Malaysia

On the northwest coast of dreamy Borneo, Kota Kinabalu is the capital of the Sabah State, where soft white beaches are washed with the South China Sea and dense tropical jungle brims with exotic wildlife. You'll be treated to a half-day city tour, seeing the Atkinson Clock, Sabah's oldest structure, before gazing out from the city's highest point at Signal Hill Observatory Platform and making out Tunku Abdul Rahman Park islands from way up high. Visit the sparkling new City Mosque surrounded by a man-made lagoon, Sabah Museum, the futuristic Sabah Foundation building, and the local handicraft market to pick up handmade souvenirs (pearls are particularly abundant). If you choose a longer holiday, your stay includes a thrilling two-hour cruise through the Klias Wetlands, looking out for birds, fishes and curious-faced proboscis monkeys among the mangroves.

Sanur, Bali, Indonesia

Finally, you'll jet to Bali's treasured beaches. Peaceful Sanur is blissfully void of the frenetic bustle found on the west coast. This southeast coast gem has just the right amount of boutiques, restaurants, bars and cafés to keep you scintillated. Shop for handmade Balinese lace, drop into a surf school, find tasty street eats at Sindu Night Market and kick back on the beach, paddling in the shallow water sprinkled with vivid jukung fishing boats.
