A lavish southern Italy stay at a historically glamorous hotel with outdoor pool near the centre of Amalfi - includes breakfast, a town centre shuttle, and all travel

  • For a luxurious set-up overlooking what is regarded as Europe's most beautiful coastline, this grand hotel has living la dolce vita down to a fine art. Built in 1962 by Gaetano Amendola, Grand Hotel Excelsior has played host to many illustrious guests over the years, including musicians, politicians, and film stars.

  • Nowadays, it enchants a whole new generation of visitors with a flawless service, olde-worlde decor, and sweeping sea views. Carved into a hillside, the property flaunts a luxe vibe throughout, but it is most apparent in the thoughtfully furnished guest rooms and suites.

  • Elsewhere, you’ll find two wonderful dining spots for delicious Mediterranean cuisine, an outdoor pool lined with sun loungers for day-long bronzing, and a large terrace for relaxing with a few glasses of fine wine. But perhaps the real highlight is the Mare Club, the hotel’s private beach that’s accessed by a complimentary bus shuttle service.
