  • Spectacular scenery: If you're after five-star luxury and breathtaking countryside, Coquillade Provence Resort & Spa should be at the very top of your list. On this quintessentially Provençal escape, surround yourself with olive groves and the property's own 30 hectares of vineyards, with the heady aroma of lavender and pine to forever soothe your senses. With chic décor and superb wine activities for oenophiles, you’ll be left in no doubt as to why the hotel’s winning formula is as successful as it is.

Three delightful diners are available to you, all of which are elegantly atmospheric and use local produce, much of which is directly from the hotel’s own gardens. There’s also a trendy poolside bar, where fine wines and bespoke cocktails can be savoured while admiring the outstanding views of the Luberon, which is thought to be the ‘heart of Provence’.

  • Holistic wellness: The lavish spa and wellness centre is the final word in sumptuous relaxation. Along with all the usual favourite amenities like Jacuzzis, saunas and an ice fall, there’s also a team of master masseurs on hand to knead all worries and woes from your body. Make sure to pay some heed to your head as well, and find your inner sense of serenity during a yoga class, or if you have your own fitness regime to keep up with, the fully equipped gym has you covered.

Provence’s multifaceted nature means staying there can be as active or as restful as you please. Indeed, mornings spent strolling gently through the hills or lounging in the sun is just as possible as conquering Mont Ventoux on a bicycle – why not take things to extreme levels and face all three of the mountain’s sides, Bédoin, Malaucène and Saultin, in one day. It should be stated that gentler cycling routes through picturesque vineyards are also possible.
