The following optional excursions are designed to fit seamlessly within your Balinese adventure, providing a superior experience in Indonesia. These tours can be booked during the final booking process.

Walking tour of villages near Ubud (day 2 or 3)

This visit will take you from village to village through breathtaking rice fields, accompanied by an English-speaking guide, who will teach you more about country life on the island of Bali, the subak irrigation system used by the Balinese, rice farming and local history. You will also visit a school (it is recommended to bring small gifts with you, like pencils, balls or notebooks!). Following lunch in a local restaurant, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

  • Included: entrance fees and guide.
  • Duration 3-4 hours

Diving in Nusa Lembongan (day 6/7/8)

This excursion is devoted to discovering the magnificent underwater world of the islands of Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. After a welcome drink with a delicious snack, you will explore three diving spots. You will then enjoy a typical lunch at a local restaurant. You will also enjoy a kayak trip in the mangrove.

Bike Tour (Day 3/10/12)

This excursion will allow you to explore the island by bike, accompanied by an experienced guide. You will ride through local villages, attend a ceremony in a temple and admire the work of the local wood carvers. You will also have the opportunity to meet Balinese families before enjoying a typical lunch in the heart of a green setting.

Sunrise trek to Mount Batur (day 3/10/12)

Starting at 02:30 in the morning, set out to conquer Mount Batur, an active volcano at 1,717 metres above sea level and considered sacred in Hinduism. Thousands of athletes have already tackled this trek, one of the most incredible in Bali. Don't forget to bring good hiking shoes, a packed lunch (to order the day before with your hotel), as well as cash to be able to buy a hot drink at sunrise!

  • Duration: 7 hours

Rafting on the Ayung River (day 3, 10 or 12)

For the adrenaline junkies, head out white water rafting on the Ayung River between the gorges, the lush jungle, rice terraces and waterfalls.

Balinese Day of Silence (Nyepi)

Please note that Nyepi, the commemoration of the Balinese Saka Calendar, falls on 11 March 2024. Those travelling in Bali at this time must follow the local customs, which include a restriction on physical work, movement or travel, and entertainment. All transport - including flights - are halted at this time. For further information about Nyepi, please use this link. The silence begins sunrise around 6:00 am of 11 March 2024 and will go on until the next 24 hours All shops are closed on Silent Day Guests must stay inside the hotel area When listening to the music or watching TV in the room, guests must keep the sound at a minimum level There will be no traffic on that day in the whole Bali island Ngurah Rai airport will be totally closed on 11 March 2024, so there will be neither arrivals nor departures in the airport on that day. Across Bali, the only activities permitted are in emergency rooms and maternity section of hospitals and the arrival section of airport. Any emergencies are taken into consideration. The whole island is in silence.

Nyepi Laut (silent sea day)

Please note, Nyepi Laut (silent sea day) takes place annually on Nusa Lembongan island. Restrictions apply on this day, during which water activities are not allowed; this includes snorkelling, diving and fishing. All other services will operate as normal. The date for the next Nyepi Laut is decided by the locals and is not currently known; however, it is expected to be some time in September or October.

German- and Dutch-speaking guides

Please note that unfortunately, no German- or Dutch-speaking guides are available for arrival dates in October 2023.

Additional tour information

Tours are on a shared basis with participants of eight people per van (including English-speaking guide). German-speaking guides are subject to availability.

Bali Island Tax
