Visit Tretyakov Gallery, home to the largest collection of Russian art, before heading up Arbat Street. Explore some of the city's metro stations, which are astonishingly decorated and a popular attraction for visitors. Overnight in Moscow. (Meals: breakfast)
Day 3: Moscow
Head off to Gorki Leninskie, once a retreat for Moscow noblemen (entrance not included). Enjoy lunch, before returning to Moscow, where you'll spend the rest of the day at leisure. (Meals: breakfast, lunch)
Day 4: Moscow - Vladimir - Suzdal
Check out of your hotel and begin the day with a tour of the Kremlin Grounds - one of the most impressive artistic ensembles in the world. Inside, you'll see the majestic Arsenal, the Senate, Congress Palace, the Grand Kremlin Palace, the Czar's Canyon and the cathedrals of the Archangel Michael of the Twelve Apostles and the Assumption. In the early afternoon, transfer by train to Vladimir, in the heart of Russia's Golden Ring. Transfer to Suzdal to check in to your hotel and spend the night. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)
Day 5: Suzdal - Vladimir - Suzdal
Tour the ancient Russian cities of Suzdal and Vladimir, discovering their main cathedrals and historical monuments. Hear the concert bells of the Monastery of Saint Rufino and visit the Museum of Wooden Architecture. After lunch, travel to Vladimir, where you'll visit the historic Cathedral of the Assumption and the Golden Gate. Overnight in Suzdal. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Day 6: Suzdal - Yaroslavl
Visit a poultry farm to learn about the different species of geese, duck, chicken and partridge. Enjoy a tasting here before departing for Yaroslavl, famed for its historical significance. Check in to your hotel and spend the night. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)
Day 7: Yaroslavl - Saint Petersburg
Take a morning guided city tour of Yaroslavl and its historic centre - a World Heritage Site. Return to the hotel for lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure, before taking a train with First Class passage to Saint Petersburg, spending the night on board. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Day 8: Saint Petersburg
Arrive mid-morning and meet your guide at the station to embark on a city tour, taking in the main architectural monuments, avenues and canals. Afterwards, transfer to your hotel to check in. In the afternoon, explore the St Peter and St Paul Fortress - the original citadel of the Tsars. Overnight in Saint Petersburg.
Day 9: Saint Petersburg
Set off for the Winter Palace, home to the world-famous Hermitage Museum - one of the largest national galleries in the world and home to approximately three million pieces of art, exhibited over 400 rooms. In the afternoon, visit Catherine Palace in Pushkin to see its impressive Rococo decoration. Overnight in Saint Petersburg. (Meals: breakfast)
Day 10: Saint Petersburg - UK
Transfer to the airport to catch your flight back to the UK.
