A 14-night adventure to beautiful Ecuador, taking in mountains, jungle and the stunning Galápagos Islands - including breakfast, excursions and all travel

There's no shortage of natural wonders and stunning scenery in South America, and Ecuador holds a vivid variety. From the depths of the Amazon rainforest to the peaks of the Andes mountain range, and the must-see Galápagos Islands which sit off the coast, this country packs a hefty punch when you consider its smallish size in relation to its neighbours. But diamonds aren't the size of bricks and its compactness makes it a breeze to get around. And get around you will, on this unforgettable 14-night adventure to this charismatic country: Ecuador in a nutshell.

Starting in Quito, which offers colonial architecture to the backdrop of the sweeping Andes, you'll get the chance to straddle the equator and tour the city. Heading into the mountains, you'll seek out one of South America's largest indigenous markets in Otavalo, before heading into the Amazonian rainforest, taking a canoe to an eco lodge, buried in the wildlife-filled jungle. Here, you'll see parrots and parakeets as they gather to feed, visit a local community to learn of their life, and try some traditional dishes to really get a flavour of the Kichwa ways.

Hitting the road again, you'll find yourself at one of the world's most beautiful waterfalls in Baños and watch water change colour according to the sun's rays at Quilotoa Lagoon. Visit Cotopaxi National Park, home to the majestic Cotopaxi Volcano with its perfect cone shape, before returning to Quito, from where you'll make your way to the world famous Galápagos Islands. Over your four nights here, you'll get the chance to see the iconic giant tortoises, watch for sea turtles in Puerto Ayora Bay, and visit the Charles Darwin Research Station to explore the history of these unique, beautiful islands and their flora and fauna.
