Dining

Wake up to a traditional petit déjeuner Provençale with a gorgeous buffet of French specialities at the elegant on-site restaurant, where you can feast on platters of charcuterie, baskets of freshly baked croissants and pain aux raisins and plenty of local cheeses. Offering dishes created using the medieval clay oven that was discovered within its walls, this sophisticated bistro boasts a specially curated menu that champions regional fare, featuring the likes of cassoulet, bouillabaisse and ratatouille. Chef Stephane Devalois often works with local cooks and regional producers, so you’ll likely get the chance to sample plenty of Provençal produce over a relaxed lunch or dinner.

Wellness

Between May and September, the hotel offers an outdoor massage programme, where guests can enjoy a range of treatments from the comfort of the garden pavilion. Soak up the gorgeous natural vistas while indulging in a facial or full-body massage, before reclining to the terrace for a cleansing cup of mint tea.

Location

Nestled between the lush Luberon Valley and the foothills of the Alps, Domaine des Sources enjoys a fantastically secluded location set among verdant vineyards and fluorescent lavender fields. It’s just a ten-minute drive to the hilltop of village of Forcalquier, home to a pretty 19th-century chapel and a lively produce market, where you can sample the region’s renowned (but lethal) absinthe.

In addition to the myriad hiking and biking trails in the area, other highlights include the fascinating Ecomusée l’Oliver, which offers insight in to the region’s olive-growing heritage, the serene Prieuré de Salagon monastery and the mystical Rochers de Mées, a network of rocky pinnacles that are said to have once been home to roaming monks and their Saracen mistresses. Marseille Provence Airport is just over an hour’s drive away.
