Opposite the Olympic Stadium, you’ll be staying in Amsterdam South, the city’s upscale neighbourhood just a short way from the World Trade Centre, Rai Convention & Exhibition Centre and Museum District, as well as the leafy manor- and boutique-lined streets of the city's trendy Oud-Zuid neighbourhood. Elsewhere, city-centre musts include relaxing in the rose garden at the Vondelpark, visiting Anne Frank House, and admiring world-famous art collections at the Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk, and Van Gogh Museum.

Make like a local and cycle through the streets in search of cafés and restaurants off the beaten track, or perhaps stock up on tulips at the floating Bloemenmarkt and hit the charming Jordaan district for independent art galleries and cosy courtyard gardens.
