A bite-sized Belgium city-hop from Brussels to Bruges, with Eurostar travel, decadent chocolatey extras and a Bruges museum discount card

This sumptuous Belgian sojourn not only reveals the charm of Europe's headgirl, Brussels, and dreamy Bruges, but also indulges your wholesome adoration of superior Belgian chocolate. Whizzing across the Channel and into foodie Belgium, the boutique Hotel Leopold Brussels is your first home-from-home in the heart of the capital's city centre. Slick, carefully considered decor meets tasteful, traditional touches at this modern hotel. It provides the perfect base for exploring Brussels and its mix of historic treasures and modern architecture, from the Grand Place and Les Galeries Saint Hubert to the European Parliament building and the European Commission.

It's then onto the medieval streets of Bruges, where time has stood still. Belgium’s most visited city is a postcard-perfect mix of traditional canals, bustling market squares and chocolate-box alms houses. It’s popular, but Bruges has more than enough personality to deserve its reputation as one of the prettiest and best-preserved cities in Europe. While here, you'll have the heavy responsibility of sampling three types of delectable chocolate at a Galler chocolate shop.

Hotel Montanus is an authentic Edwardian hotel located near the Church of Our Lady. The building used to be the house of Frank Van Acker, who was mayor of Bruges. Bearing this in mind, the architecture and decor is suitably grand. The building has a classical feel, with an imposing facade and entrance, but once you’re inside it’s a cool, calm and collected space with contemporary decor, chic en suites and luxurious linens. Breakfast involves suitably luxurious feasting at the chocolate fountain, with marshmallows in hand.
