An exotic escape split between captivating Cambodia and beautiful Vietnam, with a Halong Bay cruise and a beachfront break
Spanning 12 glorious nights, this essential Southeast Asia getaway blends Cambodia and Vietnam's spectacular heritage sites with shock-white coastline and some of the most phenomenal scenery on the planet - the perfect holiday balance.
Your journey begins at Angkor Village Resort - an ideal base for exploring Siem Reap, which offers bustling markets, vibrant nightlife and a crop of ethical boutiques. Most travellers will visit the astonishing Temples of Angkor - most notably the gargantuan Angkor Wat. A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World and winner of a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award, Angkor Village Resort charms with wooden cottages set amidst lush gardens and a 250m-long winding river pool.
It’s on to Vietnam’s capital city next, the buzzing culinary destination of Hanoi, where you’ll be staying in the French Quarter with its Colonial architecture, trendy cafes, shops, markets and galleries. Whilst here, head out to discover this intoxicating city at your own pace, exploring its clash of history and modernism like a local. You'll relish returning to your base, Conifer Grand Hotel, where plentiful up-to-date amenities and traditionally-inspired decor provide the perfect mixture of comfort and authenticity.
Then, you’ll head off on what is arguably the greatest adventure of your trip. Set sail through the beautiful Halong Bay, spending two days and one night aboard a smart ship. While on board, you can choose to explore Halong Bay’s limestone islands, mysterious caves and sparkling waters with activities like kayaking and swimming.
After one further night at Conifer Grand Hotel in Hanoi, you'll set off for a three-night beachfront stay at Hoi An Beach Resort. Popular among honeymooners and couples, the resort hosts romantic activities such as floating paper lanterns at night in an impressive display, plus classes in tai chi, cookery and bamboo crafting. The wonderfully serene spa is heaven to retreat to after a day of exploring Hoi An's Ancient Town. And of course, the town's sandy beaches couldn't be easier to stroll to.
The final leg of your trip sees you visit Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). Like Hanoi, the city is famous for its French colonial landmarks like the awe-inspiring Notre-Dame Cathedral – made entirely of materials imported from France – the 19th-century Central Post Office and more. Your final two nights will be spent exploring this charming city from your base at the Norfolk Hotel Saigon.
