Borgo Cadonega
Emilia-Romagna, Italy
Stay in a restored traditional villa in a quiet corner of the gastronomic mecca that is Emilia-Romagna – includes breakfast, spa or dining voucher and more
Emilia-Romagna is perhaps the motherland of gastronomy – a tall order, we know. This region of Italy is, after all, the birthplace of Parmigiano-Reggiano, Modena Balsamic vinegar, Prosciutto di Parma, mortadella, lasagne, and pretty much all stuffed pastas (tortellini, ravioli, cannelloni, the list goes on). Add to that rich wine terroirs, a penchant for fast cars, and an inspiringly diverse natural landscape and it’s a wonder that anybody ever goes anywhere else.
You’ll be staying in Cadonega, a tiny town tucked in amongst the verdant hills of the Viano valley, where the main attractions are traditional trattorias, a 14th-century castle, and typical stone houses in the form of towers. It goes without saying that the pace of life here is relaxed and steeped in a rich history.
Your home away from home will be the effortlessly charming, TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence-winning Borgo Cadonega, a restored villa with a tranquil spa, rustic and cosy rooms, and a gourmet restaurant (naturally). Nearby, you can explore the cities of Parma, Reggio Emilia and Sassuolo, where there’s plenty of culture to soak up.
