Soak up Bali's tropical forest air and chilled beach vibes on the north and east coast - includes breakfast, excursions, a massage and a farewell dinner

Pelaga

A village nestled 950 metres above sea level among blooming tropical forest in the northernmost reaches of the Badung region, Pelaga is Bali's central hub for agritourism. The surrounding terraced area is ripe for growing strawberries, vanilla, coffee, corn and more, and guests staying on working organic farms can experience a side of Bali that few coastal holidaymakers get to see. Around and hour and a half due north of Denpasar, you can truly switch off in this all-green haven. On your way to your next destination, you'll stop off at nearby Lake Beratan, Bali's second largest lake, both a watersports playground and home to the peaceful Ulun Danu Beratan Temple. This 17th-century holy place is where locals make offerings to the Balinese water, lake and river goddess, Dewi Danu.

Lovina

A remote region on Bali's north coast, with black sand beaches and an abundance of wildlife, this is a breathtaking tropical find away from the crowds. This low-key resort promises calm waters for bathing and the magical Gili Islands lie just offshore, where you can go on a traditional fishing boat for unforgettable snorkelling and diving. The sunsets balancing on the still waters here are legendary and the nightlife quiet. This is also the place for dolphin watching. Leaving here, you'll visit the island's two most pivotal mountain temples - Ulun Danu Batur Temple in Kintamani and Besakih Temple on the slopes of Mount Agung. The first sits on the rim of Mount Batur's black lava caldera and the latter is known as Bali's 'Mother Temple', the only temple open to every devotee from any caste group.

Candidasa

This seaside town is located on Bali's eastern coast, on the edge of a freshwater lagoon. It's a popular beach resort town, with scuba diving spots offshore and ferry services that can take you to other nearby Indonesian islands for day trips. Eastern Bali itself is home to a number of attractions, like Goa Lawah Temple (Bali's 'bat cave' temple), the breathtaking Lempuyang Temple set on a mountain peak, and Candidasa Lotus Lagoon, where pink and fuchsia flowers pepper the water's surface in a pretty display.
