Day 1: UK – Night on board

Arrive at your departure airport in the UK and check-in to your flight to Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro International Airport. Spend the night on board.

Day 2: Arusha

Arrive into Kilimanjaro’s airport and check-in to your hotel, the peaceful Moyoni Airport Lodge, not far from the centre of Arusha. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 3: Kilimanjaro – Lake Manyara National Park – Karatu

After breakfast at the hotel, set off for Lake Manyara National Park, a small park famous for its population of hippos, elephants, flamingoes and, if you’re luck, tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a safari experience here and tuck into an included picnic lunch, then continue to Karatu for a night in the Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge. (Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner)

Day 4: Karatu – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast this morning, set off for the extraordinary Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a spot famous for playing host to the Ngorongoro Crater; the world’s largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. This mesmerising place is one of the most wildlife-rich havens anywhere on Earth. Enjoy a game drive here and see of you can see the spotted hyenas, lions and rare black rhino which call it home, then check-in to the charming Ndutu Safari Lodge on the crater’s rim. (Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner)

Day 5: Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast this morning, head to the Serengeti National Park, a region synonymous with David Attenborough documentaries, endless rolling plains and arguably the most famous migration of animals anywhere on the planet. Enjoy a full day’s game drive here and see if you can spot the Big Five as well as countless species of game, only stopping to fuel up with a picnic lunch. Afterwards, check-in to the Serengeti Wilderness Camp for the night. (Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner)

Day 6: Serengeti National Park – Karatu

After breakfast, set off once more towards the Ngorongoro Conservation for some more wildlife viewing. Enjoy time in the Ndutu Region, an area famed for its big cat species, of which all six species (cheetah, lion, leopard, serval, caracal and African wildcat) can be spotted year-round. During free time, opt to visit a local Maasai village or spend some time at the unique Olduvai Gorge, a region whose geological history shows signs us evidence of the earliest signs of human life. Check back in to the Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge. (Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner)

Day 7: Karatu – Mto Wa Mbu – Arusha

Enjoy a more cultural day today as you discover the local village of Mto Wa Mbu, an inspiring place famed for its rice and banana plantations, bustling markets and village artisans selling all manner of trinkets. Stock up on souvenirs and get to know the locals over a tasty traditional lunch, consisting of a homemade meal and banana beer. Later on, return to Arusha and check-in to your final base, the Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge. (Meals: Breakfast, lunch)

Day 8: Arusha – Night on board

After breakfast, return to Kilimanjaro International Airport and check-in to your flight back home. (Meals: Breakfast)
