A boutique Buckinghamshire inn with serious interior design credentials and fantastic food
Conde Nast Traveller reckon that The Crown Amersham is "guaranteed to warm the heart of the hardiest London-based highwayman"; so if you can't bare the thought of a mellow, chilled weekend that's centred around open fires, boutique bedrooms, original olde-worlde features and gastro pub grub, then look away now.
Still reading? Then we can be sure that you will love this traditional coach house inn in the heart of the beautiful market town of Amersham. Located in the county of Buckinghamshire, just outside London (it's at the end of the Metropolitan line, so you can even get the tube), it's a cosy and rustic hideaway, inviting you to warm your cockles - ye olde English style.
As you settle into your room, you can wrap yourself in a warm woollen blanket as music from your Roberts Radio sets the tone. Waking up in your bright and airy room is a real pleasure; it's the perfect place to plan the day ahead.
The food will certainly be a highlight of your stay here and you'll find the rich seasonal dishes at the Crown Chop House irresistible.

The ever-changing, seasonal menu at the exceptional Crown Chop House takes its influence from 16th century traditions, offering classic British cuisine in a gorgeous country pub setting. The kitchen serves hearty, homely dishes and the finest cuts of meat, alongside fresh salads and scrumptious classic desserts such as sticky toffee pudding.
Always making the most of fresh, local ingredients, you'll find that some of the veg that you're munching on will have often been grown in The Crown's own kitchen garden. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch for dinner and the bar serves food all day long.
There's no messing about with the Sunday lunch here where you will find three courses of heavenly indulgence, including roasted meats, fish and great vegetarian options. You can also treat yourself to an afternoon cream tea with scones, jam, and clotted cream – the full works.
If want to sit at the bar you can graze on delicious bar snacks. The wine list is not too shabby with varied list of international wines and fizz.
Fancy a bike ride to take in some of that fresh country air? The hotel rents out Ridgeback Mountain Bikes so you can head down to the River Misbourne or explore the dry chalk valley.
