Casa de Madrid is a luxurious and private boutique guest house set in the heart of old Madrid.

Housed within a beautiful 18th century apartment building and packed with unique character, it reflects the eccentric tastes of its aristocratic owner, who converted the large apartment into a small guest house in the 1990s to showcase her unique aesthetic garnered from travelling around the world.

Casa de Madrid's salon and library are sumptuously decorated with Romanesque designs, antique tapestries, oil paintings and elegant furniture and the Roman Suite has four balconies! Four! If you retire to the salon in the afternoon, you'll also get to enjoy complimentary tea and Spanish wine in elegant settings.

This is an intimate boutique hideaway in the truest sense - it boasts just seven bedrooms, each decorated in a highly individual fashion reflecting the styles of the classical Mediterranean world, the Levant, India and Japan. It's worth noting that this is a quirky little place and the library is occasionally used by the owner as a bedroom.

The location is superb - the Royal Palace is just around the corner and the Opera is over the road. Discreet from the outside and sublimely ornate on the inside, the guest house commands unparalleled views out over the Opera House, Royal Palace and botanical gardens. You'll have to look carefully to find it though, as it's hidden within a beautiful apartment building and has only the smallest of signs outside to indicate that you've arrived - you could easily walk straight by.
